That would be terrible. We would never have the learning moments that pain brings us. We wouldn’t have the experiences that come from embracing pain. And honestly, is perfection in that sense of being ‘pain-free’ even achievable? Are you superhuman? That’s just not real life.
Pain is essential to life. Pain is a signal to get the brain’s attention. Pain is a teacher.
Without pain, we never learn from our mistakes. Whether that’s stubbing our toe on the nightstand every time we wake up and learning to get off the other side of the bed OR learning from previous emotionally painful heart breaks that we should find a new ‘type’ when we’re dating. Pain changes us - for the better.
The goal isn’t to never feel pain again.
Rather, the goal is to not be controlled by it. To not fear it. To not have to shape your entire life around it or avoid experiences that might cause it.
Being “free from pain” puts you in the drivers seat. You’re in control! You can move with confidence. You can train without second guessing. You can participate in the game without fears or trepidation about what might come. You live a full life without limits.
It’s a mental shift more than anything. The pain you feel will surely still be there physically. But you're the one who gets to decide what it does emotionally. And this changes everything.
